HP Easy Start Unable to download from HP Site

HP Easy Start is a guided installation tool designed to simplify setting up HP printers on macOS. It automatically detects the printer and fetches the necessary drivers and software for your device. However when you go to the HP site to find the software (Drivers) you only get the option to download the Windows (see above). It does seem random I thought it was linked to certain networks however after further testing this issue I found it happens on several networks without any pattern of why the Mac version of the Software App is not available. There is a workaround that should help.

If you go to 123.hp.com it gives you the option to run the model number of the printer in a search bar which then links to the HP Easy Start App Mac version link, unlike the HP direct website which only give you the Windows option. A similar issue happens if you try to install Onedrive for Mac the Microsoft site just sends you to the Windows installer site.

With the option to download the HP Easy Start App you can unzip it and run the app which will search the HP site for the correct drivers and help install the Printer. One thing to note IP address installs seem to be a thing of the past you only get given the devices on the network. If you do install say a default option because the drivers are downloaded you might be able to add the printer via IP address from the printer option in System settings with the correct drives as its already downloaded and installed them when you ran the HP Easy Start app.

In short go to 123.hp.com find the printer from the link and then download the HP Easy App. See below the basic download guide for HP printers.
