Apple has released macOS 27 Golden Gate, its latest desktop operating system update. Released on September 14, 2026, it follows macOS Tahoe 26 and represents a major transition for the Mac: it is the first macOS version to run exclusively on Apple silicon and the final release to offer full Rosetta 2 support for Intel applications.
Named after the Golden Gate strait in California’s San Francisco Bay Area, macOS 27 was announced at WWDC 2026 on June 8. The update focuses on a smarter Siri, a refined interface, improved performance, and deeper integration with Apple Intelligence.
