Outlook for Mac sync fixes

Unfortunately, there is still no time-based sync slider (e.g., “Mail to keep offline” for 1 year, 6 months, etc.) in Outlook for Mac — neither in the classic version nor in the “New Outlook” for Mac. This has been a top user complaint for years, and Microsoft has not added it despite repeated feedback.

  • Classic Outlook for Mac (version 16.x): Only offers “Download headers only” in Account > Advanced.
  • New Outlook for Mac (the modern redesign, now the default): Behaves more like the web version (Outlook on the web). It downloads a limited amount initially (often ~3–12 months depending on mailbox size and activity), but there is no user-controllable setting to force “only the last year” or any specific period. Older emails load on-demand when you scroll or search (requires internet).
