Starlink is a satellite internet service developed by SpaceX, designed to provide high-speed, low-latency internet access across the globe, especially in rural and underserved areas. It operates through a large constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, much closer to Earth than traditional satellites, which allows for faster data transmission.
Cost starts at £75 per month with 12 month commitment. Currently the hardware is free for UK Residents. See the link below for the Terms and Conditions.

Starlink hardware: The physical equipment required to connect to SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet network. The current standard hardware package includes:
Dish (User Terminal)
- Often nicknamed “Dishy”.
- It’s a phased-array antenna that automatically aligns itself with Starlink satellites.
- The latest version is a rectangular, flat-panel dish, more compact and easier to mount than earlier round versions.
- Designed for weather resistance (rain, snow, extreme temperatures).
Wi-Fi Router
- Connects to the dish via a single cable (which supplies both data and power).
- Provides local internet access via Wi-Fi.
- Recent kits may include a mesh-capable router to support whole-home coverage.
Cabling and Mounting
- Single cable (PoE – Power over Ethernet) between the dish and the router.
- Mounting options vary:
- Tripod (included)
- Optional roof mount, pole mount, or wall mount kits for permanent installations.
Power Supply
- Integrated into the router for newer versions.
- Older kits included a separate power supply unit.
Optional Accessories:
- Ethernet Adapter: Starlink’s standard router lacks an Ethernet port; this add-on enables hardwired connections. (recommended if you router is not Gen 3 )
- Mesh Nodes: For broader Wi-Fi coverage in large buildings.
