Bit defender a useful tool of your network

Recently I removed into a machine for some CCTV IP maintenance and trace a IP configuration issue on the network. The machine had Bit defender as its AV usually I dont rate AV’s for Mac but on this occasion it picked up the network attack on the network. In short something was transmitting across the network and it was causing issues.

The Error code was Exploit.pentestingtool.http.3

The full statement was

“Your device is being used to conduct an attack attempt of type Exploit.PentestingTool.HTTP.3. Please contact your system administrator.”

Clone your old OSX to a new SSD Part 2

Working with cloning drives running Big Sur, Monterey or Ventura you will need a machine that can run that software ideally a machine that can run the latest Ventura software. Without the latest update you will be restricted to working from the software your Mac is running. Within this article we are going to use a MacBook Air 2017 to clone Big Sur and Monterey (currently the air will only run Monterey) and a MacBook Pro 2018 running the latest version of Ventura.

Clone your old OSX to a new SSD

Most Apple Engineer have most probably got several USB Ext hard drives they use as a clean boot system (operating system) for testing purposes. With that in mind creating the drives is somewhat time consuming and to replicate the drive setup from scratch can encounter glitches. If you have a bootable drive and require either a copy or a hardware upgrade of the USB drive your best option would be to look at cloning the drive to a new USB ext drive. We are going to look at anything from Catalina and before within this article.

Uninstall Sophos Endpoint on Mac

To uninstall Sophos your first point would be to see if you locate Remove Sophos Endpoint. This can be either run from launchpad or type it in spotlight. When you run that app it should then go away and uninstall the programme. It would be best to reboot the machine once the exercise is complete. I have found it does sometimes error out or fails but on a reboot this will tell you if you have managed to uninstall it. Help file link.
