How to download only the last Years Exchange Mail in Mac Outlook Mail

Microsoft Outlook for Mac handles Exchange accounts (including Microsoft 365/Office 365) differently from the Windows version. Unlike Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac does not have a built-in slider or setting to limit email syncing/downloading to a specific time period, such as the last 1 year.

This is a long-standing limitation. By default, Outlook for Mac in “cached” mode downloads your entire mailbox (or as much as possible), which can consume significant disk space on large mailboxes. There is no native option like “Mail to keep offline” (the slider available on Windows) to restrict syncing to 12 months, 6 months, or any custom period.

So Copilot from Microsoft is live the feature for Mac version of Office is turned on.

What is Copilot ?

MicrosoftĀ CopilotĀ is an AI-powered assistant developed by Microsoft to enhance productivity across its suite of applications and services.Ā Unlike GitHub Copilot, which focuses on code completion, Microsoft Copilot integrates into various Microsoft products to assist with tasks, content creation, and data analysis.​

Basically like Chat GPT you can open the window up and type in your message and it will go away and source a response from its AI sources.

For those of you who have started to encounter the delightful light grey message when you open a new word document on your Mac “select the icon or press +L to draft with copilot” don’t panic it is a feature from Microsoft to help you work. For those who want to remove this option its relatively simple to do.
