Working with cloning drives running Big Sur, Monterey or Ventura you will need a machine that can run that software ideally a machine that can run the latest Ventura software. Without the latest update you will be restricted to working from the software your Mac is running. Within this article we are going to use a MacBook Air 2017 to clone Big Sur and Monterey (currently the air will only run Monterey) and a MacBook Pro 2018 running the latest version of Ventura.

Unable to update Ventura to 13.7.7

There seems to be a lot of talk about the new software build from Apple for Ventura not been able to be installed on some machines. The error that comes up when you run software update “Failed to prepare the software update. Please try again.” In very small font is says “Please try again” if you not got the message is the first place. Had a few machines with this issue along with a boot drive which is a clean macOS running 13.6 so lets look into a work around to fix this issue or blip.
