Recently came across an issue registering a Apple TV 3 inside a sky broadband network. Seems one of the ports is not open thus allowing the Apple device register over the internet. This issue materialised in the last few weeks with a number of clients with their new Apple TV. After a brief investigation with the clients the one thing in common was Sky Broadband. Outside of that environment the machines register and the machine is good to go. My recommendation is to factory reset the Apple TV and start the process of registering the device outside of a Sky broadband network. I have not had time to investigate what is the issue with the Sky Broadband router and why suddenly the Apple TV 3 does not like to register within Sky’s environment old one. I have not come across the issue with the new Apple TV released this month but watch this space.
